Favorite Friday Finds 29.0
Happy Friday, everyone!
Things have been overwhelming and lots of heavy stuff happening around here, but a bright light is here that we've all been so excited for: my sister is getting MARRIED tomorrow! We are headed up there to the venue upstate today and will be celebrating her and my new brother-in-law that is an awesome addition to our family. They are the couple that even MY friends have been waiting for to get married, because they're that awesomely weird and perfect for one another!
I am so looking forward to spending some time with family members I don't see all too often. It's going to be such a wonderful gathering of love, fun, and laughs that are very much needed. Follow along on my Instagram for the inevitably gorgeous weekend festivities!
Now, let's get to my Favorite Friday Finds this week!
Here are 6 things that I was inspired by, learned from, and laughed/smiled at:
INSPIRED BY
1. Are You in Despair? That's Good.
Fascinating piece on how we view and describe our emotions, and how that then affects how we cope and deal with life situations and feelings. This resonates with me so deeply, as someone who tends to see the world in many shades of greys and colors.
"Emotional granularity isn’t just about having a rich vocabulary; it’s about experiencing the world, and yourself, more precisely... In fact, there is growing scientific evidence that precisely tailored emotional experiences are good for you, even if those experiences are negative...It gives your brain more precise tools for handling the myriad challenges that life throws at you...
he good news is that emotional granularity is a skill, and many people can increase theirs by learning new emotion concepts... Emotion concepts are tools for living. The bigger your tool kit, the more flexibly your brain can anticipate and prescribe actions, and the better you can cope with life.
2. 10 Uplifting Quotes About Finding Peace, Even in the Wake of Tragedy
For anyone who needs a lift and serenity today, I loved these. My favorite out of the bunch:
"World peace must develop from inner peace. Peace is not just mere absence of violence.
Peace is, I think, the manifestation of human compassion."
- Dalai Lama XIV

3. Combining Finances: 5 Options for Managing Money as a Couple
On the note of weddings and marriage, this was an awesomely helpful article by The Every Girl about different options on how to manage your money as a couple. Different strokes for different folks, and this is a solid tool to introduce some options for those couples out there struggling to figure it out!
4. How Do Nature + Nurture Combine to Make Us Who We Are?
I think this topic is endlessly fascinating. Another great Ted Talk that explores this topic and introduces new ideas you may not have thought of.
LAUGHED + SMILED AT
5. Hilarious Dogs Eating Peanut Butter
For an awesome laugh. These pups are so dopey and adorable and amazing. Happy Friday!
6. Panda with a Popsicle
I mean, yes, more adorable animals with food. Two of the best things in the world, I think!
