Trainer Tip Tuesday and Touchbase

Spring is in full swing and so is iced coffee season- yes, please!

As you guys may have garnered from my slowdown of posts, I've been quite busy with everything outside of the blog. This whole multi-job/being a student for my nutritional certification/training for my StrongFirst certification is kicking my butt.

I had been feeling guilty that I couldn't give more time to this passion project of mine, so I would be staying up into the wee hours staring blankly at a blinking cursor after already being up since 4:30am for my job. Being the stubborn person I am, I was trying to muscle my way through, but then realized I had to practice what I preach and accept that I can't always be everything to everyone and that there is only so much time in the day to get everything done.

So for today, I leave you with a quick little trainer tip and links to two lovely articles to give you some feel-goods for your brain.

1. 21 Non-Spiritual Things That Make Us Happy <====== LINK

As I like to say, much of our happiness is derived from life's simpler pleasures. I loved this article as a reminder to feel and savor things that we tend to skim over.

2. How to Cure a Bad Case of The "Shoulds" <====== LINK

Guilty as charged. I had been getting better with the elimination of my "should"-ing myself, but have recently slipped back into the bad habit. The more we set up "shoulds" for ourselves, the further we put ourselves away from being able to enjoy the happenings in the now.

Now for TRAINER TIP TUESDAY:

Simple as can be: I love to hard-boil a dozen eggs at the beginning of each week to have on hand as a portable breakfast, snack, meal addition, etc. Eggs are an amazingly simple nutritional powerhouse with 70 calories, 5g fat/0g carb/6g protein.

And please, eat the yolk- that's where half of the goodness of flavor and nutrition is! For those of you worried about saturated fats and cholesterol, there is little to no evidence that dietary cholesterol (in food) has any effect on blood cholesterol levels or heart issues- in fact, eggs can even increase your HDL (good cholesterol).

Some recipes and dishes to throw a hard-boiled egg on:

My absolute favorite and signature Avocado Toast:

This healthy Roasted Cauliflower & Quinoa Salad w/Spicy Garlicky Tahini Dressing isn't quite the same without a soft-boiled egg:

Anytime I upcycle leftovers into a big macrobiotic bowl, a boiled egg inevitably makes an appearance:

A little egg sneaking it's way alongside my Overnight Oats for breakfast. Protein!

Wish I had put multiple eggs all over this Freekeh Fried "Rice" (silly me, who doesn't put an egg in fried rice?)

This Spinach Mushroom Soba Bowl is just asking for a little nice flash of yellow and white- I think an egg would fit that description, no?
